In March 2019 the building acheived NABERS Energy Base Building rating of 5.5 star (maintaining the 2018 rating). The rating is based on 12 months of operational energy usage.
In May 2019, 400 George Street undertook its third NABERS Indoor Environment Base Building assessment and increased this rating to 6 stars (up from 5.0 stars in 2016). The rating assesses the quality, health and environmentally friendly indoor environment. This is a market leading result.
The above rating results shows that the building is operating at a high level of efficiency whilst simultaneously providing a high level quality services to occupants.
In November 2012, occupants of 400 George Street participated in research undertaken by Bond University Research Centre for Sustainable Health Communities exploring the influence of green versus non-green environments on occupier's physical and mental wellbeing. The research undertaken by Bond University will deepen the understanding of green workplace environments and their impact on employees.

As part of the Queensland Government Container Refund Scheme, the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (EHP) have a Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) in the 400Food Court.

When a container is recycled in the RVM
during the trial period a 10 cent refund is donated to 1 of the following 3 charities:
1. Clean Up Australia
2. Endeavour Foundation
3. RSPCA

A tenancy rating considers the impact of energy consumed by the occupants within an office space over a 12 months period. This includes lighting, power to equipment like PCs, printers and computer servers, and any tenant controlled air conditioning. This does not include central services normally provided to tenants, like air conditioning and energy used by lifts.
